Symptoms of Gluten Allergies in Babies

Gluten allergies and Gluten intolerance is of allergic condition that are caused due to sensitivity of gluten protein found in the food substances like wheat, rye, barley etc. This allergic condition is also referred to as celiac disease; where the immune system shows reaction to the gluten with the baby’s small intestine develop into reddened, swollen and irritated causing uneasiness. Gluten is highly present in breads, wheat, pizza, barley and other forms of carbohydrate group of foods.

Symptoms of gluten allergy in infants

Gluten allergy or the wheat allergy turns up the symptoms as that caused by other allergies such as vomiting, diarrhea, cough, and other mold allergy symptoms, etc. Unlike the other diseases this allergic condition is being observed only after 2 to 3 days of onset. Thus becomes difficult for the Doctors to diagnose and predict the allergic condition.

  • Gluten intolerance holds back growth in babies as the internal walls of the intestine gets damaged with inflammation causing a hindrance over nutrient absorption from food they consume.
  • Gastro esophageal reflux disease (GERD) is a form of the symptom that includes repeated vomiting soon after meals, splitting of food and uneasy crying. They include stomach puff ups, cramping along with diarrhea, constipation etc.
  • Neurological symptoms include memory loss with behavioral difficulties due to uneasiness, headaches and depression with stress.
  • Skin rashes in the intestine spreads rashes through the baby’s bottoms causing irritating sensation, which occurs due to stomach upset. Skin redness, itching blistering skin, eczema and psoriasis are some of the other conditions.
  • Immune system gets weaker with poor resistance to infection, arthritis and mouth ulcers.
  • Poor digestion as the fat substances is not completely absorbed in the body. Anemia occurs due to lack of iron absorption reduced inclusion of Vitamin B12.
  • Cravings for food, tiredness with uncomfortable feel with shortness of breath, unceasing exhaustion are other general symptoms of gluten infection.

Cure for gluten allergy

Gluten intolerance can be avoided when the baby is breastfed for a minimum of 4 to 6 months. The antibodies present in the mother’s milk helps curing the allergic condition. Wheat or gluten allergy is almost similar with that infects the intestine causing a long term condition that has to be treated only with a healthy diet and eating habits that include mixed nutrients that are needful to the body.
